DOES BRITISH MUSIC STILL MATTER?

I think British music does still matter very much. Music is part of our everyday life, from it being on the radio to promoting chocolate! There are lots of different ways to listen to music from all over the world but it is still nice to appreciate our "home grown" talent. We can be down on bands such as Girls Aloud, who do seem to be more interested in fashion, but there is no denying that they seem to be able to churn out the hits, and (if my 14 year old neice is anything to go by), this seems to be the type of music young girls like to listen to, just as we may have listened to bands like Take That (the first time round!). Also, with programmes such as the X Factor and Britains Got Talent, more British singers are being discovered such as Leona Lewis, who has been successful on both sides of the Atlantic. British music is part of our culture and our heritage, and if we say it doesn't matter we could be saying that say, traditional Scottish music or Irish music isn't important any more which it obviously is. We need to preserve it so that our traditions including our music are carried forward and are part of our culture's future. So all in all, I feel that British Music of the past, present and future is something that we can be proud of.
